Not Just Ranthambore, You Can Now Spot Tigers In Rajasthan In This New Reserve

Rajasthan’s Ranthambore is known for its tiger population. If you are going on a safari in Ranthambore Tiger Reserve, tiger spotting is definitely in your cards. Rajasthan had three reserves – Ranthambore Tiger Reserve in Sawai Madhopur district, Mukundra Hills in Kota district and Sariska Tiger Reserve in Alwar district. Now, with the announcement of the Ramgarh Tiger Reserve, it has become the fourth in the state and 52nd tiger reserve in the country.

Rajasthan Has A New Tiger Reserve In Ramgarh

What used to be the Ramgarh Vishdari Sanctuary, now a tiger reserve is located between Ranthambore Tiger reserve and Mukundra Hills Reserve. This sanctuary has been turned into a new tiger reserve. Recently, the Rajasthan forest department has asked the National Tiger Conservation Authority to intervene in the matter, since the tiger population in the Ranthambore tiger forests is increasing. The forest department says that there might not be enough space in Ranthambore for all the tigers and form their territories.

A tigress straying in the Ranthambore area might also be shifted to the new tiger reserve. Not moving the tigress to Ramgarh might also cause human-animal conflict, the forest department fears.
