Now Your Immigration Process At Changi Airport Becomes Easier; Travellers Can Use Automated Lanes

Do you have any plans to travel to Singapore soon? If yes, here is exciting news for you and foreign visitors getting ready to land at the world-famous Changi Airport. Recently, the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority of Singapore announced allowing international travellers to use the automated lanes at the airport and this rule applies to all nationalities. How is this new guideline going to help tourists? Let’s find all the answers here.

Overseas Visitors Can Use Automated Lanes At Singapore’s Changi Airport From May

Taking to Instagram, Singapore Changi Airport (SIN) (@changiairport) shared pictures of visitors using the automated lanes.

The announcement by Singapore’s Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) stated that every international traveller, including people who are visiting Singapore for the first time and landing at Changi Airport, can use the automated immigration clearance lanes starting from May 2024.

The official rule is relevant for everyone, no matter what their nationality and passport they have. The best part is that travellers do not need to conduct any registration or enrollment before catching the flight to arrive at Changi Airport. This all-new beginning is all set to make the immigration clearance process smoother and more convenient for people.

ICA stated that Singapore might be the world’s first country to let international visitors use the automated immigration clearance lanes, according to a report by Channel NewsAsia.

The proposal is to allow departing visitors to leave the country without showing their passports. They will follow contactless immigration clearance and depart from Changi Airport, Marina Bay Cruise Centre Singapore, and Seletar Airport. This will also be eligible for citizens of Singapore coming to the nation. It is likely to begin by the end of this year.

All these significant decisions by the authorities are likely to positively impact the overall immigration clearance time. Reports claim that these steps might help reducing the duration by 40 per cent.
