In the bustling realm of Changi Airport, a vibrant addition is set to grace Terminal 2, promising a blend of luxury and sustainability. Let’s embark on a journey to explore this exciting new venture. Picture this: a chic 255-room sanctuary nestled within the heart of the airport, bearing the prestigious Hotel Indigo emblem. Although the grand reveal will now unfold in 2028, a year beyond initial projections, the anticipation only grows sweeter.

Sustainability Takes Flight With Hotel Indigo Changi Airport

Changi Airport Group (CAG) recently entrusted real estate titan OUE Limited with the task of crafting this masterpiece. Yes, the same visionary minds behind the esteemed Crowne Plaza Changi Airport at Terminal 3. Enter the Hotel Indigo Changi Airport, poised to claim the title of Singapore’s premier “zero-energy” haven. According to The Straits Times, this eco-conscious gem will stand as the third landside hotel within the airport’s domain, beckoning travellers from near and far.

What does “landside” mean, you ask? Well, it’s the realm of the airport where immigration clearance is but a distant thought, where the public roams freely. Perched above the bustling coach stand at T2’s southern tip, this architectural marvel will be a stone’s throw away from the departure hall. It will be accessible via a seamless linkway.

But wait, there’s more! Prepare to be dazzled by an array of amenities, including a rooftop day club, a trendy bar, and an infinity pool boasting panoramic vistas of runways and skylines alike. Ah, and let’s not forget the pièce de résistance: a visionary design concept dubbed the “floating forest.” Imagine layers of lush rainforest and hanging flora, cascading gracefully across seven storeys—a sight to behold indeed.

Now, onto the sustainability front. CAG and OUE have pledged to redefine eco-friendliness with innovative features like solar panels, hybrid cooling systems, and rainwater-harvesting technology. It’s all part of a grand mission to minimise environmental footprint while maximising guest comfort.

According to The Straits Times, Mr. Brian Riady, OUE’s deputy chief executive, envisions a harmonious blend of energy-efficient design and unparalleled hospitality. It is an ethos that promises to set new standards in the industry.

Despite the slight delay in its debut, the Hotel Indigo Changi Airport remains a beacon of promise amid soaring travel demands. With passenger traffic surpassing pre-pandemic levels and Southeast Asia poised for exponential growth, the stage is set for Changi Airport to elevate its hospitality game.

With each passing day, the anticipation mounts. It certainly draws us closer to a future where luxury and sustainability intertwine seamlessly amidst the bustling corridors of Changi Airport.
