Odisha will welcome its 2nd Vande Bharat Express train on Sunday. Through Bhubaneswar, this new semi-high-speed train will run between Puri and Rourkela. The train will start running on September 25, 2023. On May 18, 2023, a new-age train on the Puri-Howrah route arrived in the state. The train’s 16 carriages were occupied by passengers at a rate of more than 100 per cent last month.
On September 24, 2023, nine Vande Bharat Express trains will be flagged off by the Prime Minister. The second Vande Bharat Express train from Odisha, which will travel from Puri to Rourkela route, will be one of these nine trains. According to a Financial Express report, the prime minister will virtually flag off the train, as well as several other Vande Bharat Express trains across the nation. The first semi-high speed train in the Eastern state of India is the Howrah-Puri Vande Bharat.

The Puri to Rourkela route of the Vande Bharat Express (20835/20836) will stop at seven stations. These include the following railway stations: Bhubaneshwar, Khurda Road, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Sambalpur City, Angul and Jharsuguda.
New Trains To Be Introduced
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will introduce nine Vande Bharat Express trains. With this, there will be 34 semi-high speed trains operating around the nation. While South India and East India would each receive two Vande Bharat trains, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh are anticipated to receive the most number of rakes.
At the moment, 50 routes are served by 25 Vande Bharat Express trains travelling up and down 25 of the 50 routes. Of them, three are in the Southern and Central Zones, four are in the Northern Zone, North Western Railway Zones and two are in the Western, West Central. Additionally, one is in each of the railway zones.

It includes South East Central, Eastern, East Coast, South Central, South Eastern, Northeast Frontier, East Central, South Western, and North Eastern Railway.
