Oman Bans UK Flight Capacity, Reduces Office Capacity Amid Covid-19 Pandemic

After banning travel from 10 countries, Oman has now decided to suspend direct passenger flights from the UK. Not only this, but the sultanate will also bar the entry of non-citizens who have travelled to the UK in the last two weeks. The state media announced this and various other updates on Wednesday.

All Commercial Activities To Be Closed Between 8 PM To 5 AM In Oman 

The supreme coronavirus committee has also renewed the order closing all commercial activities in the sultanate from 8 PM to 5 AM until April 3. The following businesses are exempted, fuel filling stations, health establishments, private pharmacies, tire sale and repair outlets based at filling stations, transport, cargo and unloading services and the operation of factories without the option of receiving clients and customers, home deliveries, the handing over of food orders to customers in their vehicles from restaurants, cafes, mobile cafeterias and licensed street vendors.

The Ban On Direct Flights From UK Comes In Place From March 19

All these measures are in place because of the sudden surge of the covid-19 cases in Oman. And after much investigation and meetings, the committee has laid down some rules. The ban on direct passenger flights from the UK takes effect from noon, March 19 and continues till further notice. Omani citizens are exempt from the ban. The committee will also downsize to 70 per cent the number of employees at the workplace of the State’s Administrative Apparatus and other legal entities, with effect from March 21 till April 1.

In a bid to curb the spread of the virus, the committee urges everyone to follow precautionary measures endorsed by the departments. Well, we hope that with all these new measures and vaccination drive in place, Oman gets to normality soon.
