Currently, there are a number of Indians stranded in war-torn Sudan. For the past couple of days, the government is making efforts to rescue them. It has launched several rescue missions that are bringing stranded Indians back to the country. So far, hundreds of Indians have been rescued. However, there are still many who are yet to be brought back. IndiGo, a low-cost airline in India, has decided to join in the efforts of rescuing stranded Indians which is dubbed Operation Kaveri.

The low-cost Indian carrier IndiGo decided to join in the efforts to rescue and repatriate the thousands of Indians stranded in Sudan. It is providing flights to transport the stranded countrymen back to India.
Recently, an IndiGo flight carrying 231 Indians took off from the airport in Jeddah. According to an article by the Times of India, IndiGo said that they have offered their services for the purpose of rescuing Indian citizens from Sudan and that they were awaiting instructions from the ministry about the same.
The airline decided to step forward during the need of the hour and offered their services for this noble cause. They also said that they were committed to supporting the government’s efforts and were more than willing to provide safe flights that bring stranded Indians back to home.

About Operation Kaveri & What Is Happening In Sudan

Operation Kaveri is the name given to this rescue operation launched by the Indian government. It is the central government’s effort to repatriate stranded Indians in Sudan and bring them back home. According to a tweet by V Muraleedharan who is the Minister of State for External Affairs, so far, 1600 Indians have reached or are airborne to India.
Sudan is currently witnessing a climate of severe political crisis as its military and paramilitary forces are locked in a tussle for power in the country. This has resulted in violence and bloodshed. In order to rescue Indians from getting caught in this struggle, Operation Kaveri aims to get them back to home.
