More than 20,000 riders pedaled down the 14 km Sheikh Zayed Road route as both directions of the highway were exclusively opened for cyclists. International athletes, as well as the city’s leading cycling clubs and communities, rode around Dubai’s iconic landmarks including Emirates Towers, The Museum of the Future, and the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC).
Families and children as young as five years old joined in stride with the city’s love for the sport, enjoying the 4km bike ride around Souk Al Bahar, Dubai Opera, The Dubai Fountain and Burj Khalifa. The event also witnessed high participation from people of determination, who joined together to cycle around Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard.
It was visual delight to see UAE residents come together to strengthen the city’s vision- to embrace a healthier lifestyle. Government organisations, as well as schools and educational institutions joined participants in a socially-distanced setting.
