Bengaluru roses are quite popular for their high quality and beauty across India and the world. They have a high demand – both on the international and domestic front. This demand was exceptionally high this Valentine’s season. As per the figures released by the airport authorities, around 29 million roses were shipped from the Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru. And these were only recorded for the Valentine’s season!

Record 29 Million Roses Shipped From Bengaluru Airport This Year

As per an official statement released by Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport, they shipped over 29 million stemmed roses this Valentine’s season. Totalling at 12,22,860 kg, this number is more than 108% of what the airport shipped in 2023 during this season. This massive number solidifies the Bengaluru Airport’s reputation as a leading airport for perishables in India.

These roses were shipped to 21 international and 36 domestic destinations. Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Kuwait, Manila, and Sharjah were the top international destinations for the stemmed rose shipments from Bengaluru. Domestically, Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Guwahati, and Jaipur were among the primary destinations for the rose cargo.

108% More Than The 2023 Valentine’s Season

With the staggering shipment of 29 million rose stems, Bengaluru Airport saw a massive 108% increase in the tonnage processed compared to 2023. Around 9 million stems were shipped to international destinations, while 20 million stems were shipped across India. This is a whopping 148% increase from the previous year. In 2023, around 15.4 million stems were shipped internationally and domestically from the Bengaluru Airport.

As per the statement released by the airport authority, “BLR Airport has invested in real-time tracking to proactively address temperature excursions, ensuring the integrity of sensitive products.” They are “maintaining quality, temperature control and ensuring faster turnaround times are critical for perishable items like roses.”
