The airport at the national capital has a total of three terminals and recently Terminal 1 has been redeveloped into an expanded infrastructural development. From 17 million passengers, this newly inaugurated terminal now has a handling capacity of 40 million passengers. Constructed at about ₹4600 crore, the expansion is significant and the major growth has taken the entire airport’s passenger handling capacity to 100 million. Terminal 2 can handle 15 million passengers and Terminal 3 also has a capacity of 45 million, according to a report by CNBC TV18.
Spread over 2,06,950 sq m, the terminal premises have been increased in size by around 3 times. In addition to the existing facilities and services, many new splendid features have been installed all over Terminal 1. As per the information provided by Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), T1 has 20 Automated Tray Retrieval Systems, 100 check-in counters, and 108 Common Usage Self Service. 36 Self Baggage Drop kiosks are also a part of all these.

The expanded terminal also has an Individual Carrier System. The entry gates have been transformed with the revolutionary Facial Recognition System of Digi Yatra. Without any doubt, travellers’ experiences are about to be better with advanced technology at the airport. Also, the overall Delhi airport now operates about 1,500 flights every day.
T1 To Start Operating Soon

Videh Kumar Jaipuriar, the CEO of DIAL, stated that T1 might start operations in May, according to a report by The Times of India. There are likely chances for the services to begin soon.
