Vaccination against COVID-19 has already started in India. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also received the first dose of his vaccine at AIIMS, Delhi. The PM took to his Twitter handle to share the piece of news with the citizens. In the Tweet, he wrote, “Took my first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine at AIIMS. Remarkable how our doctors and scientists have worked in quick time to strengthen the global fight against COVID-19. I appeal to all those who are eligible to take the vaccine. Together, let us make India COVID-19 free!”

Phase 2 Of COVID Vaccination Starts On March 1
According to a Live Mint report, India had already gone past 7 million vaccine doses by February 12, 2021. Nearly 1.45 crore people have received COVID-19 shots to date. Phase 2 of the COVID-19 vaccination in India is starting on March 1. It will cover people aged 60 and above. Also, persons above 45 years of age with comorbidities will be eligible for the vaccine. The second phase aims to cover around 10 crore people across India.

CoWin Registration Begins
Registration to the government’s CoWin portal ( www.cowin.gov.in) has started on 9 AM on March 1 for COVID-19 vaccination. Citizens need to register themselves using their mobile number and a government identity document, choose the vaccination location and select a slot. In the portal, there is also a 12-slide User Manual explaining in details about booking an appointment.
The user manual states, “Government of India is taking all necessary steps to ensure that the nation is prepared to face the challenge and threat posed by the growing contagion of COVID-19. The exemplary groundwork and precaution advisory by the Government has helped in containing the spread of the virus in our country. At present, the priority is to make COVID -19 vaccine available to all, ensuring vaccine traceability and beneficiary tracking from production to last-mile administration.
