The Northeast is one of the most beautiful places in India. It is also known as the first organic state in India. President Droupadi Murmu stated that the whole of the northeast especially Nagaland has the potential to be India’s organic basket. The reason for this statement is that Nagaland is famous for good quality agro and horticultural products in the market.
Droupadi Murmu Talks About Nagaland’s Potential
Droupadi informed that about 70% of Nagaland’s agricultural practice is organic and traditional. Its three agro products namely Naga tree tomato, Naga cucumber and Naga Mircha are now Geographical Indications tagged. Naturally, Nagaland outlets started by the state government have given the locals a platform to sell their organic products.
Local farmers and weavers sold their Naga shawls, handicrafts, and more, in good numbers. She was invited to the Capital Cultural Hall where she spoke about Nagaland’s potential. The Nagaland Government accorded her the civic reception.

Foundations Of New Projects Were Laid
She spoke about the Naga tribes and how they exemplify India’s tag of ‘unity in diversity’. She said that Nagaland also has tremendous potential when it comes to tourism. Murmu inaugurated the function virtually and also laid the foundation for many upcoming important projects. The projects are related to road infrastructure, the financial sector and education.
She emphasised the fact that the development of road infrastructure helps the growth of the state. The Act East Policy of the government entirely focuses on the development of India’s Northeast region. The roads by Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana were also inaugurated on Wednesday. The President proudly mentioned that the youth in this region possessed immense talent and potential.
