Covid Patients With Mild Symptoms Can Now Recieve Jab After Their Quarantine Period

Patients now only need to complete their mandatory quarantine period to opt for the jab- provided the infection was mild or non-symptomatic. It is a part of the eligibility criteria for the vaccine, which also permits breastfeeding women and those planning to conceive to be vaccinated against the virus using the Pfizer-BioNTech jab. For the same, a routine pregnancy test is no longer need before receiving the vaccine.

Speaking about this update, Dr Farida Al Khaja, chairperson of the COVID-19 vaccination steering committee, said,

“Any patient who had an active COVID-19 infection must wait until the completion of the isolation period to be vaccinated.”

Speaking about the patients with severe or moderate infection, Dr Khaja added,

“If the infection was moderate or severe and required hospitalisation, the timeframe for vaccination after infection will depend on the decision of the medical team that treated the patient. However, all mild cases or cases without symptoms can take the vaccine after completing the isolation period.”
