After Russia invaded Ukraine, it set out a domino effect of the fastest-growing humanitarian crisis in decades. Mammoth brands like Coca-Cola, Starbucks and McDonald’s suspended their operations in Russia. After the closure of McDonald’s was announced, burgers were sold for ₹26,000 and coke was bought for a whopping ₹1,000. Russians were ready to pay humongous amounts just to have a last bite o their favourite burger. One Russian man took his love for McD to a whole new level. Read on to find out how.

Russian Man Handcuffs Himself To McD Door To Protest Closure

A Russian man named Luka Safronov-Zatravkin made a last attempt to save McD from closure in Russia. The McDonald’s superfan handcuffed himself to the entrance door of one of the outlets in Moscow. The dejected Russian stated that closing down is an act of hostility against him and his fellow citizens. Unfortunately, while the decision to close down McD outlets was intended to hurt Russia, Russian citizens who have nothing to do with this are getting badly affected.

Over 62,000 Russians May Get Face Unemployment After McD Closure

The handcuffed man continued to protest the closure. But his appeals went to deaf ears, as customers walked past him to grab the last bite. The police opened his handcuffs and dragged him away to end the protest. Other McD outlets in Russia witnessed scores of people scrambling to savour hamburgers before the closure. Around 62,000 employees in McD and additional 1,00,000 employees at supplier’s enterprises will face unemployment after the closure of McD in Russia.
