Sadhguru Emphasises On How Travel Impacts Everyone’s Lives So Differently

Weekend getaways or short trips with your friends and family are becoming increasingly common. Even travel companies have begun curating weekend trip packages! On this episode of Sunday Brunch, our Editor-in-Chief, Kamiya Jani, met with Sadhguru at Isha Yoga Center, Coimbatore. He is someone who loves to travel the country on bicycle and motorcycle. So, she asked about his views on travel and how it impacts an individual.

According To Sadhguru, Some English Men Said This About Travelling

Kamiya started by asking Sadhguru “Do you think travel is one of the best things to educate your child?” He shared his thoughts by saying, “Random travelling may not be educative or it can educate you about things you don’t want your child to be educated about.” He emphasised how random travelling increases exposure for kids that parents might not have control over. Some of this exposure may not be good for children.

He educated us about how the notion of ‘travelling is the best education’ has been set by the English folks. The reason? He told us that the English reside on an island and don’t have much to see and explore. So much so that to even enjoy some sunlight they fly over to India! They are trapped on an island and travel to different places to see newer things. While people who live elsewhere travel to the islands.

Sadhguru continued with, “I wouldn’t make that (travel) like a prescription, it depends on the kind of person you are. Some people grow with travel and some people get crushed with travel.” He was very clear about travel experiences and their impacts affecting individuals differently. There is no hard and fast rule about travel, and it is not always an ethereal or eye-opening experience.

On the other hand, he accepted that some people’s lives are heavily impacted by travel as it helps them break away from daily routines and societal norms. He summed it up by saying, “New places, new people, it could loosen them up a bit.”
