Saudi Arabia’s AFC Asian Cup Postponed By Almost A Year? Here’s What We Know!

The latest event, which has been postponed in Saudi Arabia, happens to be the 2027 AFC Asian Cup. It has been postponed by almost a year. This is a continental football tournament, which is now going to take place from December 23rd, 2027, till January 21st, 2028. Saudi Arabia’s 2027 AFC Asian Cup Postponed

The Asian Football Conference has confirmed the revised dates on November 3rd. Yes, this competition was originally supposed to take place from January 7th to February 5th, 2027, with 24 teams set to compete across stadiums in Riyadh, Al Khobar, and Jeddah. This decision, however, as revealed in a Gulf News report, comes amid ongoing regional tensions.

As a result, there have been logistical challenges and travel disruptions. So, the tournament has now been postponed. The governing body has confirmed that the Asian Cup 2027 has been rescheduled, and it is going to be held during the aforementioned period.

Japan Festival Cancelled In Saudi Arabia

Not only this, but the Japanese Embassy in Saudi Arabia also recently announced that it has cancelled the sixth Japan Festival. This was supposed to take place in November 2026. However, citing the safety of visitors and participants, the embassy has cancelled the event. They expressed regret over the decision, but mentioned that it is prioritising the safety of all the visitors and participants.

The embassy confirmed that preparations would begin for next year’s festival, and the plan is to make that event even more vibrant and to further strengthen ties between the two nations. Another event, which was recently postponed, is the Six Kings Slam.

This is the third edition of the tennis tournament, which was supposed to take place in October. However, it will now take place from December 27th to 30th, 2026. It is a part of the season and is high-profile. The tennis exhibition has been postponed due to the heat and security concerns.
