The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman, and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman of Saudi Arabia have made a significant humanitarian gesture. They’ve ordered the establishment of an air bridge to provide relief supplies to the victims of a devastating earthquake in Morocco.
Saudi Arabia’s Humanitarian Air Bridge To Morocco
The directives were issued on Sunday, September 10, 2023. As per the orders, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSRelief) will operate an air bridge. It will provide relief supplies to the earthquake victims in Morocco. This includes any outstanding debts related to utilities and traffic fines.
The directives were issued out of the keenness of King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to stand by the affected Moroccan people. The aid will certainly mitigate the effects of the devastating earthquake. The earthquake caused huge human casualties and losses of property. Over 2100 people were pronounced dead and thousands were left injured in the disaster. The earthquake took place near Marrakech city on Friday night. The death count might even increase in the coming days.
Reason Behind The Directive & The Implementation
The dispatching of a Saudi search and rescue team from the General Directorate of Civil Defense will take place soon. Additionally, teams from the Saudi Red Crescent Authority, led by KSRelief, will join in the relief operation and humanitarian work. They will also rescue the ones trapped under the rubble of buildings.
Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah, Advisor to the Royal Court and General Supervisor of KSRelief, expressed his sincere thanks to King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for their noble gesture. He stated that this gesture comes as an extension of the humanitarian role of Saudi Arabia in standing by those afflicted by crises and disasters all over the world.
