Scuba Diving And Swimming Banned In Popular Nha Trang Bay Region Of Vietnam

Travel enthusiasts! If you’re planning to travel to Vietnam, then we have some concerning news for you. Vietnam has banned swimming and scuba diving in the popular Nha Trang Bay region. Vietnam’s Nha Trang Bay is known for its turquoise blue waters and luxurious beach-facing boutique hotels. Here’s why you won’t be able to swim or scuba dive here.

Swimming & Scuba Diving Banned In Nha Trang Bay To Conserve Coral Reefs

Nearly 60 per cent of Nha Trang Bay in Vietnam was covered by living coral in 2020. Illegal fishing, climate change, improper waste disposal and the construction of industrial parks have led to a depletion of living corals. In just a span of 2 years, the living corals have shrunk to just 50 per cent. This is the reason Vietnam has banned swimming and scuba diving in Nha Trang Bay until further notice.

Other Beaches To Go Scuba Diving & Swimming In Vietnam

According to a report by Times Of India, officials will evaluate the condition of the sensitive area and then take appropriate actions to conserve the coral reefs. Recent photographs of Hon Mun island show coral reefs that are bleached and damaged. This is certainly a cause for concern. Nevertheless, Moray Beach, Madonna Rock and Dry Island are some other places in Vietnam where tourists can go swimming and scuba diving.
