The Railways has provided Wifi facilities on several stations for the convenience of the travellers. The Wifi facilities are available for free for the first half an hour and then they get chargeable. Wifi in railway stations can come to the aid of travellers for a lot of important as well as leisure activities. Travellers use Wifi for downloading tickets, watching movies while waiting on the platform and much more. But a recent gateway data by the Railways has revealed that many users utilise the Wifi in railway stations to download porn. And Secunderabad station has the maximum number of people who utilise the Railways Wifi RailWire for searching and downloading sexual content, as per the gateway. The data has revealed that the top four stations in India where users download porn content using Railways Wifi are Secunderabad, Hyderabad, Vijayawada and Tirupati.

Can Porn Downloads Affect Wifi Speeds In Railway Stations?
As per data, over 1.2 million users make use of the RailWire daily. Speaking to Times Of India, a RailTel official has said that a RailWire user utilises nearly 350 MB of data in a half an hour session and almost 90% of the content comes from porn sites. Officials have cited excessive porn downloads as a reason for hindering Wifi speeds in railway stations.

The official has told Times Of India that users have no access to over hundreds of pornographic websites, and access to a few others is still to be blocked. Officials have also stated that intervening in users’ personal spaces is not their business.
