Shark Tank India 2: Diabetes Food Startup Rejects Sharks’ Offers

If you’re an avid watcher of this entrepreneurial TV show, you know that the show can sometimes have dramatic moments. Well, yesterday’s show was no different. There were many pitchers who put their best foot forward in front of the sharks and took what they got. This one couple, however, seemed to know their worth and didn’t accept anything less than what they believed they deserved.

Nishu and Lokendra Tomar had a pitch for their company that helped provide food for people with diabetes. Their company, Diabexy sells pancake and dosa batters which are diabetic-friendly. Their food, they claimed, would help diabetic patients deal with their debilitating disease. They claimed that their food would also help the patients eat healthier without worrying about worsening their condition.

Since the idea was so promising, the duo asked for ₹1.5 crores for 1 per cent of the equity. However, the offer didn’t sit well with the sharks. Anupam Mittal, one of the sharks, backed out of the deal while the others offered ₹1.5 crores for 20 per cent of the equity. The duo felt low-balled and rejected the offer. They said they would come back on the show when their valuation reached ₹100 crores.
