Not only mornings but anytime any day drinking chai is almost like a ritual. Little did you know that drinking chai can actually reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes. According to a study involving more than 1 million participants from eight different nations, moderate use of black, green, or oolong tea is connected to lowering the risk of the developing type 2 diabetes. At the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) Annual Meeting in Stockholm, Sweden, the findings were presented. It implies that over the course of an average of 10 years, drinking at least 4 cups of tea each day is linked to a 17 percent lower risk of T2D. To more clearly identify the connection between tea drinking and potential T2D risk, study was done.

Bioactive Compounds Can Be Effective

Participants answered questions on their food and drink intake as well as their lifestyle choices, including how often they exercise, smoke, and drink alcohol. The results observed were irrespective of which tea was preferred by the participant or what his or her sex was. It suggested that the amount of tea or chai consumed is the main factor. Polyphenols which are found in tea helps in reducing blood glucose levels and a moderated amount of the same compounds can be very effective. Since the study is observational, one cannot prove that chai can reduce the risk completely, but is surely helpful. ‘
