Actor par excellence Shefali Shah graced her presence on our Sunday Brunch episode. Joining our Editor in Chief Kamiya Jani for a meal at Mumbai’s most iconic seafood restaurant Gajalee, Shefali Shah dived into an honest and fun conversation with us about marriage, life, relationships and of course, her love for solo travel. She candidly revealed her secret about exploring the fantastic characters she has portrayed on the OTT space and silver screen.
Shefali Shah Talks About Pressure On Actors To Look Good
During our fun yet insightful conversation with Shefali Shah, Kamiya Jani asked her if the pressure to look good can be extremely stressful for actors and even dictate what they can and can’t eat. Shefali said, “Everybody scrutinises the way you look and how you look.” Adding to it, she reveals that, unfortunately, people have the notion — if you’re thin, you’re beautiful; if you’re fair, you’re beautiful, if you’re fat, you can’t be beautiful, or if you’re dark, you can’t be beautiful.
The Delhi Crime actor called these notions “stupid.” After all, these are nothing but conditioning that has happened over the years. Since actors like her are constantly in the limelight, there is pressure on them to constantly look their best. She can’t imagine what stars and heroines go through. “I haven’t been in their place. I work, but I do stuff where I play a character.”

She Plays Characters & Does What’s Needed To Make Them Authentic
Shefali Shah explained, “So, the more authentic I am, the better I am. It’s not about how beautiful Shefali Shah looks. Delhi Crime, if I’m going to be there with my dark circles and no makeup, that’s who she is going to be. That adds to my character. That adds to me as an actor.” She reflects on heroines and actresses whose beauty is their trump cards and who might be facing a lot of pressure to always look good on the screen.
At Gajalee, Shefali and Kamiya indulged in a delicious Sunday Brunch of Bombil Fry, Sol Kadhi, Amboli and Ambat Tikhat Prawns. The actress even revealed how she sleeps late at night and has a refreshing take on her love for solo trips.
