As the world moves towards more energy-efficient alternatives, Dubai is also stepping up its game. In a round of exciting developments, the world’s largest solar-powered data centre is now in Dubai. Now open at Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, this is the largest single-site solar park in the world! It was recently inaugurated and here’s more information about this development.

World’s Largest Solar-Powered Data Centre In Dubai

Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, Crown Prince of Dubai inaugurated the world’s largest solar-powered data centre in the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park. As it happens, the complex has been developed by Moro Hub (Data Hub Integrated Solutions). It is a subsidiary of Digital DEWA, which happens to be the digital arm of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority. In fact, Saeed Al Tayer, the managing director and chief executive of DEWA said that this centre provides an ‘exceptional model,’ as it combines digital with energy technology.

Guinness World Record For The Biggest Solar-Powered Data Centre

As it happens, this complex has been recognised as the biggest solar-powered data centre by Guinness World Records. Not to mention, the aim is to provide services, including cloud computing, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, data hosting, smart cities, in the areas of digital transformation, Internet of Things and Moro services supported by ChatGPT technology. Additionally, this will also help in moving towards the goal of Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and Dubai Net Zero Emissions Strategy 2050. For those who aren’t aware, the aim is to generate 100 per cent of its energy capacity using clean energy sources by 2050.

An Exceeding Capacity Of 100 Megawatts

Did you know this new green centre boasts solutions from renowned companies like Dell Technologies, Microsoft, and Huawei? Yes, although it’s worth mentioning that Moro Hub’s key technology partners and customers are VMWare, Emirates NBD, and Digital Dubai Authority, to name a select few. Spread over a massive 16,000 square metres, this green data centre has an exceeding capacity of 100 megawatts!
