According to Thomas Cook, South India is the largest contributor to the holiday business for the company, especially Bengaluru. As per reports, Bengaluru is the company’s number one source market for the leisure segment. Here are some interesting details from the report.

Overtaking West and North India, the South Indian state – Karnataka has emerged as the largest contributor for leisure travel for Thomas Cook. As per a report by the company, as much as 45% of the company’s leisure travel bookings come from Bengaluru. This makes Karnataka the top source for the leisure segment for Thomas Cook. Furthermore, besides Bengaluru and Mysore, Mangaluru, Udupi, and Hubballi are displaying noteworthy growth emerging from tier 2 and 3 cities.

And to leverage this rapid and powerful growth opportunity, Thomas Cook has decided to work on two-pronged strategies. They will work on expanded distribution and strategic product development in Karnataka to capitalise on this growth surge in the area. To begin with, they will work on a phygital experience like the ‘clicks & bricks’ model with apps for sales and servicing, introduce chatbot, portal, call centres, and expand the retail network. This is in addition to the existing 17 outlets of Thomas Cook across five cities in Karnataka.

They have also launched exclusive charter flights and expanded their Spiritual Journeys portfolio. In addition, they have also introduced exclusive Karnataka regional and festive group departures. For the comfort of travellers, they provide services like local Kannada-speaking expert tour managers and options for Indian and vegetarian food on tour.

Travel Trends That Surged In Bengaluru-Karnataka By Thomas Cook

Thomas Cook further revealed insightful consumer behaviours and travel trends seeing the travel behaviour of Bengaluru. They found an increased travel demand in Indians as compared to 2019 – as much as 60% of what they saw in 2019. They also found an increase in spending appetite as well as longer stays while booking vacations by Indians. Some of the top domestic destinations explored by Bengalureans were Andaman, Kashmir, North East, Rajasthan, and Kerala. International travellers explored countries like Switzerland, France, Finland, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Korea, Indonesia, Mauritius, Singapore, Dubai, and Vietnam.
