The inaugural Special Olympics UAE Games is currently underway at ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi. This is happening till June 10, which is today and athletes are competing across several kinds of sports. If you’re also curious about this ongoing event, here’s all about the sporting event, which sees participating members of People of Determination clubs and centres from across the UAE.

Special Olympics UAE Games Is Underway

Members of People of Determination clubs and centres from across the UAE are participating in the ongoing Special Olympics UAE Games. Yes, and some of them are as follows –

  • Dubai Club for People of Determination
  • Al Ain Club for People of Determination
  • Khorfakkan Club for the Disabled
  • Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services
  • Heroes of Hope
  • Emirates Down Syndrome Association
  • Dubai Club for People of Determination
  • Fujairah Centre for People of Determination
  • Ras Al Khaimah for Welfare & Rehabilitation

With more than 600 athletes from across the UAE, these games are taking place across six different sports. Yes, it comprises basketball, bowling, badminton, football, esports, and powerlifting. This is the official launch of the second phase of the landmark event for clubs and centres for People of Determination. Through the games, these people are encouraged to develop their skills and even build lasting friendships.

More Than 600 Participants At The Games

For those who aren’t aware, the Special Olympic UAE Games also has several complimentary activities. Yes, these are from the Special Olympics UAE UAE Health Program. In fact, health screening will be made available to all participating athletes! This covers feet, hearing health, mental health, eye checks, and oral & dental health. Managed by 160 doctors and medical volunteers from across the nation, these are in collaboration with over 20 partners in the healthcare centres. As it happens, doctors from Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Oman, Kuwait, and UAE are also participating in a unified healthcare training session.

With the games receiving nationwide support from local organisations, this event has certainly been a highlight for the people of the UAE.
