Amid the rising COVID cases, many states are re-imposing restrictions to combat the spread of the virus. India has witnessed around 1,26,789 fresh cases, which is one of the highest one-day jumps to date. So far, India has reported around 12.8 million confirmed cases with nearly 166,000 deaths. Taking the alarming situation into account, many Indian states have imposed night curfew now. So, if you’re travelling to these places now, you’ll have to plan your journeys accordingly. Here are 7 Indian states have enforced night curfew:
1. Delhi
Amid the new surge of coronavirus cases, the Delhi government has imposed a night curfew in the capital from 10 PM to 5 AM. The night curfew will be in force till April 30, 2021. Officials of the city’s administration had sent a proposal to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to re-impose the night curfew in the capital. The CM had said earlier that he was not considering a lockdown. But now the government has brought back the night curfew to curb movements of people and combat the spread of the virus. Also, Delhi Metro has advised travellers to complete their journeys by 10 PM. During the curfew timings, Delhi Metro will allow entry only to those travellers who fall in the essential category.
2. Maharashtra
Night curfew will be in force in Maharashtra from 8 PM to 7 AM on weekdays. An on weekends, there will be complete lockdown in the state. Curfews will be in place from 8 PM on Fridays to 7 AM on Mondays. During the curfew hours, the authorities will permit movements for essential services. 3. Rajasthan
Amid a surge in the Covid-19 cases, the Rajasthan government has made the RT-PCR test mandatory for everyone entering the state and those travelling outside the state. One should take the test 72 hours before arrival in Rajasthan. The state government has also imposed a night curfew from 8 PM to 6 AM and ordered the closure of multiplexes, gymnasiums, schools and colleges. Social gathering can take place with a maximum of 100 people.
4. Gujarat
The Gujarat Government has imposed night curfew in 20 cities till April-end. According to a Live Mint report, Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani stated, “Night curfew to be imposed in 20 cities of the state between 8 PM to 6 AM”. The CM has added, “100 people to be allowed at weddings. Grand events to be postponed until April 30. Govt offices to remain closed on Saturday till April 30.” Earlier, the state had extended the night curfew in four cities, namely, Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara and Rajkot. Now, curfew is in force in Ahmedabad, Surat, Rajkot, Vadodara, Junagadh, Anand, Surendranagar, Gandhidham, Gandhinagar, Patan, Morbi, Jamnagar, Nadiad, Mehsana, Godhra, Bhavnagar, Dahod, Amreli, Bhuj and Bharuch.

5. Odisha
Odisha has imposed night curfew in 10 districts of the state, namely, Sambalpur, Sundergarh, Koraput, Nuapada, Jharsuguda, Balangir, Nabarangpur, Bargarh, Malkangiri and Kalahandi. The curfew will be in force from 10 PM to 5 AM.
6. Punjab
Punjab has announced night curfew in all districts till April 30 from 9 PM to 5 AM. Also, Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh has put a total ban on political gatherings. At weddings and funerals, a maximum of 50 people and 100 people can be allowed indoors and outdoors respectively. The CM has also stated that violators will face actions under the Disaster Management Act and Epidemic Diseases Act. Also, the government has limited shop entries to 10 people at a time.
7. Uttar Pradesh
Uttar Pradesh has imposed night curfew in some districts, including, Lucknow, Varanasi, Prayagraj and Kanpur, till April 30. The timings of the curfew vary for different districts. According to ANI, the district magistrate of Kanpur said, “A curfew would come into force in Kanpur from 10 PM till 6 AM on April 8, to continue till April 30.” The night curfew timing will be from 10 PM to 8 AM in Prayagraj. Also, Varanasi Commissioner of Police stated, “Varanasi to observe a week-long curfew starting at 9 PM on April 8.” Night curfew has been imposed in Noida from 10 PM to 5 AM till April 17.
8. Karnataka
In Karnataka, authorities have imposed night curfew in 7 cities namely Bengaluru, Kalaburagi, Mysuru, Bidar, Mangaluru, Udupi-Manipal and Mysuru. The curfew will be in force till April 20. According to PTI, Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa has said, “Night corona curfew between 10 PM to 5 AM every day, from April 10 to 20, will be imposed in Bengaluru, Mysuru, Mangaluru, Kalaburagi, Bidar, Tumakuru, Udupi-Manipal cities. It will be applicable in district centres.”
