Imagine a journey that takes you from selling pamphlets as a 14-year-old to becoming a visionary in India’s competitive coffee industry. Bhupinder Madaan, the genius behind Theka Coffee, embarked on precisely such an extraordinary odyssey. Hailing from Ahmedabad, his entrepreneurial spirit began with momo stalls. He was operating three of them in no time, serving delectable street food to a growing fan base.

In January 2017, Bhupinder had an epiphany. A chance visit to a bar in Delhi sparked an idea that would revolutionise how India sips its coffee. He envisioned serving coffee not in conventional cups but in beer bottles! And thus, in September 2017, Theka Coffee was born.

Just when Theka Coffee was gaining momentum, the COVID-19 pandemic struck, forcing the closure of its 14 outlets due to financial constraints. Bhupinder faced a daunting challenge, but he refused to surrender. With sheer determination, he set up a coffee cart and, over the course of three months, managed to generate daily sales ranging from Rs 2,000 to Rs 3,000.

The defining moment for Theka Coffee came when it stepped into the spotlight on Shark Tank India in January 2022. Although the Sharks didn’t take the bait, the brand’s visibility soared, leading to a nationwide expansion and a surge in sales. The rejection served as fuel for Bhupinder’s relentless pursuit of success.

What sets Theka Coffee apart? It’s more than just the unique packaging or the innovative coffee variants like Palang Tod and Chocolate Patola. The brand’s heart lies in sustainability and community engagement. Ethically sourced coffee beans ensure fair treatment for the farmers, and the “tree for coffee” program lets customers contribute to rural India’s afforestation efforts in exchange for a cup of joe.
