Ever since we enjoyed a Punjabi Sunday Brunch at Govinda’s home with his wife Sunita Ahuja and daughter Tina Ahuja, the former has set the Internet on fire with her unfiltered tales, pizzazz and magnetic aura. Our Editor-in-Chief Kamiya Jani talked, laughed and even danced with Sunita at her stunning home in Juhu, Mumbai. While gorging on Makki ki Roti and Sarson ka Saag, Sunita revealed how her husband and Bollywood legend Govinda got his nickname ‘Chi Chi’.

Seated in the very home Govinda and Sunita Ahuja got married in, Kamiya Jani enjoyed an unforgettable Sunday Brunch where the masala was not just in the food but in the stories, giggles and dance moves that followed. Kamiya observed that pet names were very common in Punjabi households.
Reveals Story Behind Govinda’s Famous Nickname
She was curious to know how our beloved comedy legend Govinda got his nickname ‘Chi Chi’. “Chhoti ungli ko ‘Chi Chi’ kehte hai” ( Little finger is called ‘Chi Chi’), replied Sunita Ahuja. The celeb wife elaborated that Govinda was the youngest in his family, so, he was lovingly called ‘Chi Chi’.

While Govinda’s daughter’s name is Tina, her nickname is ‘Namu’. Getting into the reason behind this cute moniker, Sunita revealed that her daughter was named ‘Narmada’ by her mother-in-law. Tina’s grandmother lovingly called her ‘Namu’ short for ‘Narmada’, India’s pristine river. Later, her name changed to Tina from Narmada. But Sunita revealed she is very fond of the name, ‘Narmada’ and still prefers to call her daughter, ‘Namu’.
From talking about her love for Johnnie Walker Blue Label scotch to shaking a leg on an iconic Govinda song, Sunita Ahuja was a riot, and we had a gala time. She even revealed her favourite Pani Puri spot in Mumbai which we have bookmarked for our next chaat party.
