East Delhi’s Swaminarayan Akshardham Temple will reopen for visitors on October 13 with strict measures of safety and social distancing. The temple remained closed for several months to combat the spread of COVID-19. BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha had shut its temples across the world in March 2020 in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic. The weekly and daily gatherings, festivals, events, etc. had also got postponed in these temples. Iskcon Temple in Bangalore has also opened doors to devotees on October 5.

East Delhi’s Akshardham Temple To Reopen, Masks Are Mandatory

The spiritual-cultural campus of Swaminarayan Akshardham Temple in East Delhi will be opened for public on October 13. The temple authorities have issued certain guidelines that all the visitors need to follow to ensure safety. The guidelines are as follows:

  • The temple will permit only a limited number of people to enter the premises between 5 PM to 7 PM. Visitors entering the temple before the closing hours can, however, stay inside the temple till 8 PM.
  • Each visitor needs to undergo thermal screening during entry.
  • Wearing masks or face shields is mandatory.
  • The exhibition hall of the temple will remain closed. But the musical fountain programme will remain open.
  • A limited number of people will be permitted to sit in the musical fountain area to maintain social distancing.
  • Bookshops, gardens, food courts and book centres will remain open.

The Temple Has Around 20,000 Statues Of Divine Figures Of India

Swaminarayan Akshardham Temple of Delhi has around 20,000 statues of divine figures of India. The temple complex has sarovar, garden and even a 3000-feet long path for parikrama. The musical fountain show, which is called the ‘Circle of Life’, is the major attraction of the temple. People were also able to take a virtual tour of the temple compound through the Airpano website while staying indoors amid the pandemic. Also, the temple has adequate space to help visitors maintain enough social distancing.
