The girl is, quite literally, a household face in India. Whenever you come across her picture, the campaign slogan ‘utterly butterfly delicious, Amul!’ automatically starts playing in your head. Sadly though, the creator of this iconic Amul girl, Sylvester daCunha has passed away recently.

The Amul girl that became the face of the brand, is well-known throughout the country. Recently, its creator passed away. Sylvester daCunha, the creator of the Amul girl, passed away on Tuesday night. However, his passing wasn’t made public until Wednesday. He was 80 years old when he passed.

His contribution and work were celebrated throughout the land. As a matter of fact, the Amul Girl campaign is one of the longest-running ad campaigns in India as of now. One of the things that it was most known about is known about was its punny advertisements.

The topical posters featuring the young girl commented on almost every major event that took place be it political, social, or in popular culture. Many prominent people from the advertising industry, as well as some political figures, have taken to their social media accounts to mourn the loss of this advertising legend.

The brand has a rich history in India and it is probably the most used dairy brand in India.
