Taiwan: From Transport To Concerts & Festivals, Here’s All That’s Cancelled Amid Typhoon Haikui

Taiwan is currently grappling with a dangerous Typhoon Haikui that has made landfall. The country is preparing for the typhoon and hence, it has temporarily suspended transport services and outdoor events in order to safeguard the people of the country and to minimise the damage. People are advised to stay indoors and not leave their houses unless extremely necessary. Here are all the services and events that were suspended or cancelled amid the typhoon.

Typhoon Haikui: All That’s Cancelled Amid The Storm

Taiwan has just witnessed the landfall of Typhoon Haikui and has been preparing for it. The country has suspended its transport services like ferries, railways, and even flights. Hoards of people have therefore been stranded at the airport as there aren’t any flights available until the storm passes.

Apart from transport services, outdoor activities like concerts have also been cancelled. The famous Hot Air Balloon Festival which takes place in Taichung also stands cancelled amid the storms. National parks are also temporarily shut until the storm passes.

Educational institutions have also suspended in-person classes. Given that the region had also recently witnessed another typhoon weakening, Typhoon Saola, the reopening of the academic year was postponed by a couple of days.

Just After Typhoon Saola Weakened

This typhoon approached the country of Taiwan right after Typhoon Saola weakened. Many parts of the country had already been witnessing heavy rainfall owing to the oncoming storm. In addition to the Hot Air Balloon Festival and Concerts, a baseball festival was also cancelled.

According to an article recently published by the Hindustan Times, the gambling hub of Hong Kong was also closed owing to the storm. Even businesses and stock market trades were all temporarily shut because of the storm.

China has witnessed fatally excessive rainfall this year and it has managed to claim the lives of many people. Houses as well as trees have been uprooted and many have been left destitute.
