The capital city, Delhi, alone attracts world tourists to its significant landmarks like the Taj Mahal, Red Fort, Qutub Minar etc. which are amongst the highest earning monuments. Whether local or global, tourists are charged a certain fee to see these historical places of importance. Therefore, it allows the tourism sector in India to benefit massively. With the number of monuments and scenic sites in our country, the industry does benefit immensely from the revenue.

This ivory mausoleum in Agra stands as the most admired site in the world and . And lives up to being the highest earning monument in India. The Taj Mahal symbolizes love and finds its significance in people’s hearts. Shah Jahan, a Mughal emperor, built this between 1631 and 1648 in the memory of his deceased wife, Mumtaz. No wonder tourists throng this place, and it finds itself on the list of places one must visit in a lifetime.

After Taj Mahal, Shah Jahan’s Red Fort

The Mughal Emperor, Shah Jahan, built another icon with the second-highest number of visitors – the Red Fort or the Lal Qila. It stands tall in Old Delhi, Chandni Chowk wooing thousands of tourists to visit everywhere and admire its grandeur. Red Fort, too, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is the second highest earning monument after Taj Mahal.

Well, it is not only the iconic Taj Mahal and Lal Qila that have the most visitors and are the highest earning monuments, but sites like the Qutub Minar, Humayun’s Tomb, and the grand Agra Fort also receive huge visitors and earn a lot. They have the most interesting stories behind their construction and are a delight for history buffs.
