Tamil Nadu Gets Highest Number Of Tourist Arrivals For The Fifth Time In A Row

The ancient temples, beautiful beaches, rich culture, lush greenery and nutritious food of Tamil Nadu have caught the attention of travellers not only in India but across the world too. Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Edappadi K Palaniswami inaugurated the 46th Indian Tourism and Trade exhibition at Island Grounds. And he stated that Tamil Nadu has the highest number of tourist arrivals for the fifth consecutive year. Now that’s a reason to celebrate!

Edappadi K Palaniswami further informed that from the year 2014 to 2017, Tamil Nadu had the highest tourist arrivals. And in 2019, around 39 crores domestic and 61 lakh foreign tourists visited Tamil Nadu. After the informal summit held in the UNESCO heritage site, in Mamallapuram, by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping, there has been a significant increase in the number of tourists.

The chief minister said that Tamil Nadu has spotted new tourist places and have started works to develop the infrastructure in those areas. Various initiatives have been taken by the government to create job opportunities for the residents. An amount of ₹99.91 crores has been allotted to develop coastal tourism spots, by building basic amenities like drinking water facilities and toilets. Palaniswami also added that the 46th Indian Tourism and Trade exhibition will help people to know about the State Government’s schemes. Their services will be showcased by the departments. As a part of the 70-day fair, here will also be amusement rides and entertainment activities. And most all, temple tourism in Tamil Nadu is the main reason behind attracting so many people to this state.
