This Sunday was special! Adding a festive vibe and lots of delicious food to make our day, Tejasswi Prakash invited our Editor-in-Chief Kamiya Jani to her Goregaon home in Mumbai for a special Gudi Padwa Sunday Brunch. The best bit? The meal was prepared by Tejasswi herself!
Gudi Padwa Special Sunday Brunch With Tejasswi Prakash
This Gudi Padwa, Marathi mulgi Tejasswi Prakash invited Curly Tales to enjoy an authentic Maharashtrian meal at her home. After being a star performer on Celebrity MasterChef, she wanted us to get a taste of her cooking as well, so the entire meal was prepared by her!
“It’s the first time after MasterChef that I have made a proper meal for anyone,” Tejasswi told a very excited Kamiya. Before we sat down for the meal, Tejasswi Prakash gave us a tour of the house she had been living in for the last 25 years. We asked what Gudi Padwa meant for Tejasswi and she said, “It is our New Year’s. Main bachpan se hi festivals ko khaane ke sath relate karti hoon and that’s how every celebration is for me.”
We couldn’t help but ask Tejasswi Prakash if cooking was ever her interest before MasterChef happened. She said, “Of course, mera interest tha but I never really took it seriously. I didn’t know how to cook but because of the show and the training they gave us, I now know how to cook. I am so confident in my flavours. My respect for food has gone up, like tenfold!”
Unfiltered Conversations Over An Authentic Maharashtrian Meal
We, of course, had to see Tejasswi Prakash in her element in the kitchen! While talking about how Maharashtrians are obsessed with dhaniya and kadipatta, she also taught Kamiya how to make Bhakri. Our elaborate Gudi Padwa Special Sunday Brunch included dishes like Valachi Bhaji, Shrikhand Puri, Kothimbir Vadi, Masale Bhaat, Bhakri, Koshimbir salad, Bhoplyache Gharge, Suranache Kaap, and Shrikhand. Tejasswi shared that it took her almost six hours to prepare the meal and it was super delicious!
