On August 10, the anticipation of Rajinikanth’s fans in Japan and beyond reached a crescendo as his film ‘Jailer’ hit theatres after a halt of two years. The excitement among his Japanese fans was palpable, leading to a grand display of affection towards the star. Videos from various theatres went viral on social media platforms, showcasing fans showering his posters with milk, flower petals, and garlands. The atmosphere in these theatres could easily be mistaken for a festival. The fervour with which Rajinikanth’s films are awaited and celebrated is incomparable.

Among the heartwarming stories emerging from this fervour, a video featuring a Japanese couple stole the spotlight. Shared by news agency PTI, the video captured the couple’s sheer joy and enthusiasm as they eagerly spoke about their experience of watching ‘Jailer’ in a theatre filled with fellow fans. Yasuda Hidetoshi, a devoted Rajinikanth fan, spoke in Tamil, expressing his journey from Japan to Chennai just to witness the film.

The film’s success led to an extended run in Japanese theatres, captivating audiences for over 100 days. Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar and produced by Kalanithi Maran under the Sun Pictures banner, ‘Jailer’ boasts a star-studded ensemble cast. The movie’s cast includes Mohanlal, Jackie Shroff, Ramya Krishnan, Tamannaah Bhatia, Vinayakan, and Yogi Babu. The film’s release in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi versions across the globe underscores the international appeal and universal appeal of Rajinikanth’s performances.
