A few months ago, a hoarding in Ghatkopar came crashing down and claimed the lives of many people unfortunately. Now, another large hoarding in Thane has collapsed. A harrowing video of it went viral on social media. It shows the colossal hoarding crashing down after a flash of light. It almost crushed two auto-rickshaws as well as two pedestrians. According to an article which was recently published by the Hindustan Times or HT, this incident took place around 10:18 AM today. The locality where the hoarding was situated and collapsed is known as Sahajanand Chowk in Thane.
The video shows a side of the road where it’s business as usual. Then, there is a flash of lightning and the hoarding comes crashing down. It almost ends up crushing two auto-rickshaws that were parked beneath. What is more, two pedestrians also were saved by an inch.
Thankfully though, there was no loss of lives in this incident and no one was injured, if reports are to go by. A total of three vehicles were damaged including the two autorickshaws mentioned above. The video of the incident is being circulated on X (formerly known as Twitter).

As per the HT article, a rescue team was sent to the area to take stock of the situation. They said that no one was buried under the rubble. This incident took place months after a hoarding in Ghatkopar collapsed and claimed the lives of many people.
These incidents highlight the need for better safety inspections and sturdier banners. It is hoped that the authorities will take measures to remedy the situation so that another such incident does not happen ever again.
