There is nothing more iconic than the couch from Central Perk, a significant part of US sitcom F.R.I.E.N.D.S. To commemorate the silver anniversary on the 22nd of this month, 30 replicas of the popular couch will be exhibited at prominent locations around the world. Burj Khalifa, Dubai is one of the locations and we could not BE more excited about this.
What Is It?
The show first aired on September 22, 1994, ran for 10 seasons. We strongly believe there is someone joining the F.R.I.E.N.D.S fanbase every minute. Even though the show ended in 2004, Netflix acquired rights to have the show on their platform for about $100 million a while ago. To celebrate the anniversary of the show, you and your friends can actually get yourselves clicked on the couch, whilst quoting some of the greatest show of all times. (sorry GOT fans, this one’s special)
Warner Bros Television Group has made this happen with pop-up displays around the world, from New York to the Tower Bridge of London, and finally the Burj Khalifá in Dubai.
What Else?
F.R.I.E.N.D.S. fans in the UAE have opened cafés concepts around in the last couple of years. Most of which are inspired by Central Perk. Although many of them have disappeared since then, fresh ones seem to open up in the Emirate. Cross-Cultural Perk was introduced in Bur Dubai previously this year. People have swarmed here for the supposed inspiration of the series.
