Skytrax, an international airline consultancy group has published its 2021 World Airport Awards. International airports across the world have been listed and ranked based on traveller experiences. This survey evaluated the experiences of travellers based on check-in, shopping, arrivals, immigration, security, transfers and immigration. The latest survey also had a specific Covid-19 section. Interestingly, for the first time in 10 years, Singapore’s Changi Airport has lost its place at the top of the ranking to make way for Doha’s Hamad International Airport. Four Indian airports made it to the survey’s top 100 airports in the world.
Top 10 Airports In The World
The world’s best airport in 2021 according to Skytrax’s annual ranking is Doha’s Hamad International Airport. This airport has been climbing the ranking for years and has finally been awarded the number one spot in the 2021 World’s Best Airport” category. Hamad International Airport has dethroned Singapore’s Changi Airport which has now taken to third place on the list. Doha’s ascension to the top comes days after a product rating agency named Qatar Airways as the world’s best carrier. The second place is taken by the Tokyo Haneda Airport and the fourth is by Incheon International Airport.

Four Indian Airports Have Made It To Top 100 On The List
Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi has won the special 2021 Covid-19 Airport Excellence Awards for properly implementing Covid-19 protocols including usage of face masks, availability of hand sanitiser, social distancing and other hygiene procedures at security. It’s ranked at 45th place compared to the earlier 50th place in 2020. Apart from this other airports in India like that in Mumbai (65th place) and Bengaluru (71st place) have fallen down in rankings compared to last year. But Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport has bagged 64th place, climbing up 7 places since 2020. All these 4 airports have made it to the top 100 of the world’s best airports according to the survey.
Meanwhile, The Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru won the ‘Aviation Innovation’ Award at Wings India Awards 2022.
