It has been a few days since Himachal Pradesh is receiving heavy to very heavy rainfall in many places incessantly. The situation in most areas seems grim as the massive water clogs and floods have inundated many places. From an increase in water bodies’ water levels to landslides and more, the state is currently experiencing the worst side of the monsoon season. Floods are simply devastating all around.

Twitter user Weatherman Shubham (@shubhamtorres09) shared a video of the ongoing rainfall in Solan this Monday morning.

It seems like there is no end to all these ongoing in the state. Unfortunately, the India Meteorological Department recently issued a red alert for some districts. With this, there is also a warning for the high chances of flash floods, especially in Lahaul and Spiti Valley.

According to a report by NDTV, 5 people lost their lives on Sunday due to the ongoing heavy rainfall. So many landslides from different parts of Himachal Pradesh have been reported already. These landslides are destroying houses, shops, blocking roads and highways, sweeping away things, and also killing people.

Landslides have led to the blockage of the Mandi-Kullu National Highway creating massive problems for the commuters. With this, the train facilities between Shimla and Kullu is also at a pause now. Landslides and uncountable broken trees made it impossible to drive trains on the track.

In between the uncontrollable rainfall, flash floods, landslides, and rock slides, the state government took the decision to close all the schools and colleges on 10 and 11 July.

These Roads Have Been Blocked:

  • Over 700 roads in Himachal are shut now.
  • Major national highways connecting different parts and districts of the state are blocked due to landslides and flash floods.
  • Kullu-Manali National Highway, Mandi-Kullu National Highway, Gramphu-Losar National Highway, Aut-Jalori National Highway, and more are blocked.
