According to a survey by YouGov, almost 75% of urban Indians plan to travel over the festive season between September and December. Interestingly, 72% of these people are planning domestic travel and Goa has emerged as the most popular destination! These Are The Most Popular Domestic Travel Destinations Among Indians
As per a new survey by YouGov, a British market research and data analytics firm, three-quarters of urban Indians are planning to travel this festive season! The survey reported that more than 80% of millennials and 70% of GenZ are planning a vacation between September and December.
While outbound travel has risen significantly this year, about 72% of Indians are planning to explore the domestic beauty of India. And Goa has emerged as the most popular domestic travel destination among Indians! About 35% of people in the survey said they would like to travel and explore Goa over the festive season.
Besides Goa, Kerala and Himachal Pradesh are the other most preferred holiday destinations among travellers. 26% of people have expressed their desire to witness the beauty of God’s Own Country in person and around 24% wish to see the mountainous region of North India.
Furthermore, as per YouGov, one in ten Indians is willing to travel abroad for a vacation. Among international holiday destinations, the Middle East was the most popular choice at 46%, followed by Europe at 35%, and Southeast Asia at 34%.

Long Weekends Enticing People To Travel This Festive Season
So, what prompted this urge to travel over the festive season for Indians? Long weekends! According to YouGov’s survey, long weekends are playing a major role in shaping the travel plans for Indians this festive season. Around 27% of urban Indians are considering extended holidays from September to December, with most of them preferring shorter vacations instead of long ones.
Also, seasonal discounts and festive deals on flights and hotels are a major driving force for travellers during this season. Besides that, year-end events and celebrations are another reason why people are planning their travel during this period.
