Couple Charged Over ₹3 Lakhs For Two Coffees At Starbucks

According to the story, it so happened that a couple in Oklahoma, Deedee and Jesse O’Dell bought two coffees from a Starbucks drive-in. All was well until a few days later. Deedee O’Dell was at the mall, shopping with her children when her card, the same as the one used to purchase the coffee, was denied.

Perplexed by this, she investigated further into the matter and realised that the coffee that she and her husband bought a few days ago, cost way more than they expected. They were charged a whopping $4,456.27 which is more than 3 lakhs in Indian rupee. It wasn’t that they had ordered expensive coffees. They got what they usually order and their bill comes to some $10, which is roughly ₹825.

They called the customer service helpline of the famous beverage chain more than 40 times to sort out the matter, however, they didn’t receive their money back. Officials at Starbucks have mentioned that two separate cheques will be issued to the couple, repaying the amount they’re owed.

Couple Forced To Cancel Their Family Trip

The couple mentioned that this huge deduction has taken them by surprise. The family was planning to go on a trip but since this unexpected and forceful deduction has thrown their finances out of order, they were forced to cancel it.

The couple had already booked their flight tickets which, they were also forced to cancel. The sad part is that the tickets were non-refundable and the couple also lost the money spent on booking the flight tickets.
