Starbucks To Revamp Loyalty Programme & This Means We Need To Spend More On Those Lattes

Let’s face it, Starbucks is a luxury coffee chain. I mean, a cup of coffee for ₹250 to ₹300? Who are we kidding? So, it isn’t surprising that Starbucks fans often like to cash in on free drinks with loyalty programmes. In fact in the USA, Starbucks was one of the most subscribed customer loyalty programmes in the QSR industry in August 2021. But here’s where things are gonna change. Starbucks will revamp its loyalty programme and it’s not good news. This means you’d need to spend more for free lattes.

Starbucks Changes Loyalty Programme & Makes It Costlier For Patrons

Starting February 13, you’d need 100 stars instead of the earlier 50 stars to get free coffee, tea or baked goodies at Starbucks. And the free iced drinks you loved earlier for 100 stars would now need 150 stars to obtain the same. And handcrafted drinks like lattes and cold brews along with breakfast sandwiches would need 200 stars instead of the earlier 150 stars. Also, sandwiches and salads for lunch would amount to 300 stars as compared to the 200 stars, previously.

The internal memo circulating in Starbucks, obtained by Insider has certainly left the coffee brand’s fans alarmed. But do keep in mind that the top-level loyalty programme 400-star tier remains the same. So, you can get your free fancy Starbucks merchandise like cups for 400 stars. And for the minimum 25 stars, patrons can choose alternative milk for their drink or even add another shot of espresso.

Revamped Loyalty Programme To Come In Place From Feb 13

For every $1 (₹82.7) spent at the Starbucks loyalty programme members will get one star. They will get two stars for using a physical Starbucks card or a pre-loaded digital one. The memo allegedly states that these changes in the Starbucks loyalty programme are taken from February 13 to meet the “evolving needs” of customers. Well, now it all depends on how loyal you are to the revamped loyalty programme.
