Waterfalls always take our breath away. To be able to watch an inviting waterfall is one of the best ways to immerse in nature. And there’s nothing more beautiful than a waterfall in the monsoon season. The Indian state Karnataka is home to many such waterfalls. And a recent viral video of the Jog Falls in Karnataka is garnering a lot of limelight on the internet. Due to heavy rainfall, there’s rise in water levels of the falls and the view is absolutely scintillating!

Internet Lauds The Jog Falls As Exquisitely Beautiful

Recently, Eric Solheim, who is a former Norwegian diplomat, tweeted a video of the Jog Falls. The video that captures the beauty of Jog Falls, became viral within a few hours. Eric credited the video to a user named Raghu with the caption,
“This is not Niagara Falls… This is Jog Falls, located in Shimoga district of Karnataka, India”. The tweet is still getting a lot of attention from Twitter users. A lot of them are even sharing gorgeous images and videos of the waterfall in the replies. With 1.8 million views and counting, the video has also garnered a lot of comments. “Beautiful place all the surrounding areas too”, one of the users wrote. Another reply said, “Been here many a time. Exquisitely beautiful”.

More About The Waterfall

Jog Falls is located on the Sharavathi river in the Western Ghats of Shimoga District, Karnataka. The waterfall is famous as the third highest plunge waterfall in India. It is a segmented waterfall and attracts numerous tourists to the state. The Falls ranks 36th in the list of free-falling waterfalls in a list by the waterfall database. It is created by the Sharavati dropping 253 m. This makes it the third highest waterfall in India after the Nohkalikai Falls in Meghalaya and the Dudhsagar Falls in Goa. There is also the nearby Linganamakki Dam associated with the waterfall. The power station with 120 MW capacity, has been operational since 1948. Currently, it acts as a small source of electric power for Karnataka.
