This Quaint Village In Nagaland Is In The Border Of India And Myanmar

Think borders and all that comes to our minds is shelling, men in arms, and a lot of restrictions. There is always so much restlessness and adrenaline rush associated with border areas in India. However, there is one such area in the east of India that projects peace and normalcy. A village in the farthest of Nagaland is connected with Myanmar in the most unique of ways. We were amazed that the India-Myanmar border ran across the village Ang’s kitchen (King’s Kitchen). The Ang rules this very village, Longwa village in Nagaland.

What makes this village unique is that despite falling on the border area, the Longwa village is ruled by the village chief (Ang). The village makes an interesting place to visit and has amazing locations that offer sights of pretty sunsets and green landscapes. The village has four rivers running across it – two in India and another two in Myanmar.

Take A Trip To This Quaint Village On Indo-Myanmar Border

The Longwa village, located in the Mon district of Nagaland makes for a great place to travel for adventures. However, getting there might be a task, but the end destination will be worth all your efforts. If you’re one who loves to see the unexplored and not very fond of overrated destinations, this can be the border village you love! To reach there by flight, your nearest airport would be Jorhat in Assam. From Jorhat head to Sonari/Simulguri, and take a bus to Mon district to travel around 100 km. For train services, you will have to reach the Bhoju railway station and head to Sonari to take a bus from there. You can also reach Simulguri first, head to Naginimora and then travel to Mon. As for the bus routes you can reach the Mon district in Nagaland via Sonari or Simulguri in Assam.
