Their aim is to bring the city’s essence and memories to the UK residents with their decor and food; taking a dive into the taste of Kolkata. The restaurant is beautifully decorated with love and each corner is reminiscent of Kolkata. Frames of Victoria Memorial, Coffee House, Satyajit Ray with his camera cover the walls of this Bengali restaurant in London’s Oxford Street, with ceiling fans on low speed and natural rattan-stained furniture: taking the guests on a nostalgic trip to Kolkata.

Chourangis’s One-Page Menu

The menu of Bengali restaurant might be small enough to fit on a page, but every menu is authentic, bursting with flavours, and a contemporary version of the foods of Kolkata. They serve Bengali staples like biryani (with quite some options and variations), Chingri Cutlet, Bhapa Chingri wrapped in banana leaf, Bhapa Ilish, Kosha Mangsho, and interestingly Palong Shaker Torkari too.

Chefs and the restaurant really try to blend the Bengal atmosphere in London as they serve dishes like Paanch Phoran Lamb Rack, Aamada Maach, and Kamal Kakdi Chaat. Well, is it even a proper Bengali menu if it doesn’t have a long list of ‘mishti’ at the end? Starting from Sondesh Tart to Kesar Pista Kulfi, the desserts also will make you nostalgic while having one last bite. Chourangi has gathered quite some popularity in London’s Oxford Street and nearby in a short span of time. Celebrities like Sourav Ganguly and Shreya Ghoshal also were a part of the crowd in this London’s joint.
