November 1st 2022 is World Vegan Day. Today, the demand for plant-based meals and people walking towards healthier choices is increasing. Now you can easily savour your favourites and many more vegan dishes 30,000ft above ground. Yes, Emirates has introduced a menu of gourmet vegan dishes into First and Business Class. The Economy class passengers are served plant-based options. The vegan options are available in Emirates lounges, for pre-order and for pre-order onboard.
Vegan Meals In Emirates
Since 1900, Emirates has been serving vegan meals onboard. The difference is that these options were available only for specific periods on specific routes. Looking at the increase in demand it now offers more than 180 plant-based recipes. The award-winning chefs’ team at Emirates have curated a tempting menu. It is loaded with veggies and does not let the absence of meat be felt. The textures and infusions of various ingredients are used to create the effect. The menu is filled with a new collection of tempting and colourful dishes that make healthy eating fun. The veggies and other ingredients are sourced from USA-based suppliers like Bustanica. Bustanica is the world’s largest hydroponic farm.

The Development Of The Menu
The menu development for vegan meals introduced in the First and Business class took about a year. Emirates Flight Catering developed this menu. It went through multiple tastings and presentations. The final output included contributions from various cuisine specialists like Indian, Chinese and Arabic speciality chefs. The vegan menus are refreshed every week to provide variety to all the frequent travellers. It has been very well received by Emirates worldwide passengers. They also serve some scrumptious vegan desserts. Dark chocolate custard cake with strawberries, Chocolate tofu cheesecake with strawberry compote and Lemon tart with coconut cake are some of the most loved ones.
