Dubai Gets World’s Largest Hydroponic Farm With 95% Less Water Usage

The UAE has made significant advancements in agriculture during the last few years. With the commercialization of its pure local produce, the nation is a substantial competitor in the world market. The UAE is taking things further and has launched a new hydroponic farm. Dubai is serving as its initial location.

The $40 million investment-backed Bustanica farm becomes the very first lateral farm for Emirates Crop One. It’s a partnership between Emirates Flight Catering and Crop One, a pioneer in innovation indoor modern agriculture.

The 330,000 square-foot facilities will generate over 1 million kg of premium leafy greens each year. At the same time, it utilizes 95% less water than traditional agriculture. The infrastructure of the hydroponic farm has the capacity to cultivate more than 1 million genotypes (plants). This will yield an average of 3,000 kg per day.

The Closed-Loop System Help Save Water In This Type Of Agriculture

They built a closed-loop system in the field to transport water through the crops as efficiently as possible. When the water evaporates, it is collected and recycled into the system. It uses 250 million fewer litres of water annually than traditional outdoor farming would use to produce the same amount of food.

Advanced tech, including machine learning, ai, complex procedures, and a highly specialized internal staff made of agronomy specialists, engineers, horticulturists, and plant scientists, are what drive Bustanica.

The aim is to create a sustainable future in order to satisfy the need for local, fresh food around the world. Hence this first large-scale farm is the result of that dedication. This new building provides an excellent example of what is feasible globally.

Soon, shops and Emirates aircraft will both carry the farm’s goods.
