Jaipur Tourists Drive SUV On Ladakh Sand Dunes
On June 9, a couple from Jaipur irresponsibly drove their Toyota Fortuner SUV on the sand dunes in Hunder, Nubra Valley. This Ladakh sand dune is a popular tourism spot as it’s known for its cold desert landscape. According to an article by NDTV, Leh Police revealed in a Facebook post that tourists are directed not to drive on sand dunes as it damages the natural landscape and violates prohibitory orders.

Leh Police Takes Strict Action & Fines Tourists ₹50,000
In the photos, it’s shown that the Toyota Fortuner SUV has a license plate with registration in Delhi. The Jaipur couple were slapped with a whopping ₹50,000 fine for driving their car in the serene Ladakh desert. Netizens took to social media to praise the Leh Police for taking strict action against the violators. This incident is yet another remainder for tourists that responsible and sustainable tourism is the only way forward. And we need to respect the laws and abide by the rules.
