Rome’s Fiumicino International Airport has a unique hotel, Dog Relais. At this hotel, rooms cost around €40 (₹4,155) a night. The best part of this hotel is that it has temperature-controlled floors, private gardens, and plays calm music at night to help your furry friends relax, reported AP News. Every dog has a distinct personality, and for those who are shy and prefer to be alone, this hotel has special kennels at the edge of the property where they only interact with just the staff instead of other dogs.

Even pets deserve princess treatment; for that, this hotel offers special services like grooming, bathing, and dental care, as well as other indulgent treatments. These include aromatherapy with lavender or peppermint scents to help pets relax, and arnica cream massages to help their sore joints. Owners who want more premium benefits can book rooms that cost €60 (₹6,236). These rooms have video-call screens and treat dispensers as well.

Not Just Tourists, Locals Too Enjoy Facilities At The Hotel

This dog hotel at the Rome Airport is now used not only by travellers but also by local dog owners. These dog owners bring their pets for daycare or training. In talks with AP news, Alessandra Morelli, who works at Aeroporti di Roma, revealed that she leaves her Labrador Nina at the hotel. It makes her work-life balance much easier.

To make travel easier for those travelling with pets, Italy’s aviation authority also introduced a new rule for pet travel. On domestic flights, they allowed large dogs to fly inside the cabin as long as they were placed in secure crates. This rule will be effective from September 23.
