At a time when lakhs and crores of travellers visit the bustling locations of Tamil Nadu, it is now becoming mandatory to get e-passes before tourists travel to Ooty and Kodaikanal.

Obtain Your E-pass Before Visiting Kodaikanal And Ooty

The Madras High Court made the new rule of getting an e-pass mandatory for every traveller planning to explore Ooty and Kodaikanal in Tamil Nadu and witness these destinations’ magnificence. A division bench worked on the e-pass and it included Justices D Bharatha Chakravarthy and N Sathish Kumar, according to a report by The Times of India-India Times. One of the primary reasons behind making this decision is the massive footfall of travel enthusiasts from all around.

The Madras High Court took this significant step to control the huge number of visitors and also protect nature and the ecosystem. This new compulsion is coming into action from May 7. No, it will not be a necessity to obtain an e-pass to visit Ooty and Kodaikanal throughout the year. As of now, travellers will need this pass starting from Tuesday to June 30, 2024. The key goal of this rule is to control the epic rush of tourists in these peak summer holiday weeks.

It not only becomes a hectic task to manage the influx of travellers in the rush weeks but the visitors too often face a few issues in such times. Traffic is a never-ending problem when thousands of travellers visit bustling touristy destinations at the same time. The new rule of getting an e-pass for Ooty and Kodaikanal aims to look after this massive problem as well.

How To Get The E-pass?

  • Head to the official website epass.tnega.org for the e-pass.
  • In the first step, you need to submit the necessary details to apply for the necessary document.
  • Add information such as the type of vehicle, fuel needed to run it, date of visit, address, and more.
  • Soon, you will get the e-pass with a QR code.
