Indian Railways has come up with some new rules for pets. You can simply travel with your pet if you abide by these regulations. You will need to purchase tickets for both you and your pet at First AC if you want to enjoy the train ride with them.

If you want to travel with your pet, you must purchase a luggage ticket. Pets are only permitted in First AC. When you make a reservation for your pet, you must pay a fee based on its size and weight.

Indian Railways has made online booking available. By going to the IRCTC’s official website, you can purchase tickets online.

Media sources state that the Railway Ministry contacted the CRIS (Centre for Railway Information Systems) to create a program that would enable customers to purchase tickets for their dogs via the IRCTC website. The Train Ticket Examiner (TTE) has been granted the authority to make reservations for animals on trains as part of this new plan.

  • The cost of the ticket depends on how much the pet weighs.
  • In AC 2 Tier, AC 3 Tier, AC Chair Car, Sleeper Class, and Second Class coaches, pets are not permitted.
  • A rabies vaccine must be given to the pet. In addition, you must always carry your veterinarian certificate.
  • The pet’s feeding during the trip will be the responsibility of the pet parents.
  • Additionally, the pet parents are also liable for any injuries sustained by the animal throughout the trip.
  • Online ticket purchases will require a photocopy of the pet.
  • Make sure the pet has received all necessary vaccines, and keep the certificates on hand.
  • 24–48 hours prior to departure, obtain a fitness certificate from the vet, and bring the necessary identification.
  • When purchasing a ticket, a veterinarian’s note describing the breed, colour, and gender of your dog is required.
  • One can also bring their pets in a basket.
